Back in 2006, it was just me—Cass—a tiny space with three chairs, two basins, a lot of hustle, and an even bigger dream.

Honestly, I’ve always wanted to do more than just style hair. I wanted to create a place where women could feel completely themselves—comfortable, appreciated, and truly celebrated.

After spending time travelling and working overseas, I came back inspired to bring fresh ideas and techniques to the community I love so much.

Those early days were a wild mix of hard work and hope. Every step forward was thanks to the incredible women who trusted me with their hair and stories. Because of that support, we eventually outgrew our cozy little salon and upgraded to a bigger space.

That move gave us room to create something even more special—a welcoming spot where every detail, big or small, was designed to make our clients feel amazing.

To me, it’s never been just about hair—it’s about making sure every woman who walks through our doors leaves feeling appreciated and like the best version of herself.

Inclusivity has always been at the heart of what we do. We welcome women from every path of life, and I take a lot of pride in that.

At the same time, I’ve always looked for ways to give back to this community that’s given me so much.

Whether it’s donating to local groups, sponsoring sports teams, or helping out women’s shelters, I’m grateful to play even a small part in making a difference.

The Cutting Room is so much more than a salon to me—it’s my happy place. It’s where I get to meet incredible people and share laughs, stories, and connections.

Forrest

Chief Happiness Officer

Meet Forrest, our resident cuddle expert and all-around good boy!  With a wagging tail and a heart full of love, he’s always ready to welcome you at the door with a friendly greeting.

Whether you’re here for a trim or a transformation, Forrest is on hand (or paw) to keep you company, offering his expert listening skills and plenty of furry affection.

He’s a pro at tummy rubs, loves hanging out with clients, and never misses a chance to strike a pose for a selfie.

Feel free to snap a pic with our photogenic pup—he’s always camera-ready!  Next time you visit, don’t forget to say hi to Forrest—he’ll make sure your salon experience is extra special.

Cass

Grand Master Stylist

With over 30 years of experience and 18 years leading our team, Cass is the heart and soul of our salon.  As a Grand Master Stylist, Cass is at the top of her game. She’s spent her career perfecting her craft, starting with her apprenticeship in Sydney, then heading to London to work as a Colour Technician. While in London, she also worked as an educator and further honed her skills at the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy.

Cass has an unparalleled passion for short hair, relishing the precision, creativity, and technical mastery it demands. She views each short haircut as a work of art, sculpting it to perfectly complement face shape, features, and individual style. And with her wealth of experience, there’s nothing she can’t do, from intricate colours to dramatic transformations.

Cass isn’t just about hair; she’s a natural leader. She works hand-in-glove with Penny, combining their expertise to elevate the salon experience for both clients and staff.

Dedicated to mentoring the next generation of stylists, Cass passes on her knowledge and passion to help them grow. Whether it’s a complete makeover or a simple refresh, Cass makes sure everyone leaves feeling their absolute best.

Penny

Business Development

Penny joined our team in 2009, bringing with her over 20 years of experience in executive roles within multinational businesses.

With a background in business development and learning development, Penny’s extensive experience allows her to approach challenges with a unique perspective and find innovative solutions that benefit our salon.

A true blue-sky thinker, Penny is skilled at setting clear, visionary strategies that drive our business forward.

Her ability to think creatively and adapt to different environments has been invaluable in shaping our growth and success.

Beyond her business acumen, Penny is also the person behind all the beautiful plants in the salon.

Her passion for creating a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere is reflected in every corner of our space, where the plants thrive and bring a sense of calm and freshness to all who visit.

Bec

Master Cutter & Colourist

Bec has been bringing her creativity, expertise, and precision to the salon for seven years. As the youngest to qualify as a Master Cutter and Colourist, she has built a reputation for her technical skill and eye for detail.

With a deep understanding of hair textures, face shapes, and colour theory, Bec tailors every style to enhance her clients’ natural beauty. Whether it’s a fresh, fashion-forward cut, rich dimensional colour, or seamless balayage, she delivers stunning results with confidence and precision.

Outside the salon, Bec’s passion for health and fitness keeps her energy high, and her friendly nature makes every visit a fun, feel-good experience. With her, you’re in expert hands, guaranteed to leave looking and feeling your best.

Amie

Senior Stylist and Salon Educator

Amie has over 15 years of hairdressing experience and a natural talent for creating looks that feel just right for you.

Whether it’s a fresh haircut, gorgeous colour, or a style that perfectly matches your vibe, Amie’s versatility and passion make every appointment special.

She absolutely loves creating stunning, lived-in blondes—perfectly blended for a low-maintenance, natural look that still turns heads.

When she’s not working her magic behind the chair, you’ll catch Amie off the beaten track, camping under the stars.  You’ll feel instantly at ease with Amie’s warm, friendly approach—she’s all about making you feel like your best self.

Alice

Master Colourist & Stylist

Alice is a true hair enthusiast with a special expertise in Asian and Indian hair. With five years of experience, she is a Master Cutter and Colourist who understands how to work with different textures to create stunning, tailored looks.

Balayage is her specialty—especially on dark hair, where she seamlessly blends sun-kissed tones to add depth, dimension, and movement. Passionate about styling, colour, and precision cutting, Alice brings creativity to every client she works with. Whether it’s a flawless balayage, a sleek, glossy finish, or a bold new colour transformation, she is committed to delivering beautiful, customized results.

When she’s not making hair dreams come true, you’ll likely find Alice exploring new restaurants and indulging in all sorts of delicious dishes—because just like hair, she believes great experiences are all about the perfect blend.

Mikayla

Junior Stylist & Colourist

Mikayla is one of our rising stars, with a real passion for creating beautiful, personalised colours for every client.

With three years of experience and lots of training from our amazing team, she’s quickly finding her feet in the salon. Hair runs in the family—her mum and sister are both hairdressers, so it’s no surprise Mikayla has always had a love for the craft.

When she’s not working her magic, you’ll find Mikayla with her horse, competing in dressage. Her dedication and attention to detail are clear in everything she does, and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow in the industry!

Amelia

Apprentice

is a first-year apprentice who’s just getting started on her hairdressing journey, and she couldn’t be more excited! With a love for learning and a family connection to the craft—her grandmother was a hairdresser—Amelia’s passion for creating and bringing smiles to her clients comes straight from the heart.

She’s eager to soak up every bit of knowledge and grow her skills, all while bringing her friendly attitude and fresh energy to the salon. For Amelia, being part of a creative and caring industry feels like home, and she’s ready to take on every challenge with a big smile and plenty of enthusiasm.

Taylor

Apprentice

Taylor may be a first-year apprentice, but her natural talent and love for hairdressing are impossible to miss. With a family legacy in the industry—her Nana was also a hairdresser—Taylor’s passion runs deep. She’s eager to learn, grow, and bring fresh energy to the salon, quickly becoming a valued part of the team with her can-do attitude and enthusiasm.

Taylor’s sense of adventure takes her straight to the water when she’s not honing her craft behind the chair. With her boat license in hand, she’s the captain of the ski boat and loves chasing thrills on her water skis. Whether on the waves or in the salon, Taylor’s vibrant energy and passion shine through in everything she does.

Sarah

Apprentice

Sarah joined us last year, working casually after school, and we’re thrilled to have her full-time as a first-year apprentice this year. With a natural flair for hair and a drive to learn, Sarah is already making her mark in the salon.

When she’s not behind the chair, you’ll find Sarah on the soccer field, where she’s a true superstar! Her dedication to both her sport and her craft makes her a force to be reckoned with, and we’re excited to watch her grow as she combines her passion, work ethic, and creative talent. Sarah’s future in the industry is looking bright, and we’re proud to have her as part of our team!

Ella

Dynamo

Ella is our sweet, 14-year-old dynamo who works with us casually, bringing her infectious smile and joyful energy to the salon every time she’s here. Cute as a button, Ella is a triplet with a personality that lights up the room and keeps everyone around her in high spirits.

Though she’s still in school, Ella is already passionate about the world of hair and can’t wait to start her apprenticeship with us in 2027. With her enthusiasm, natural talent, and dedication to learning, we’re excited to see her grow into an incredible stylist in the years to come. Keep an eye on this rising star—Ella’s journey is just beginning!

Booking Fee

When you book your appointment with us, we kindly ask for a $50 booking fee, which is securely stored in your file. This fee helps us reserve your spot and ensures everything runs smoothly, allowing us to give you the personalised care and attention you deserve. It also helps reduce no-shows, allowing us to offer appointments to other clients eagerly waiting. On the day of your appointment, you can choose to either:

  • Apply the fee toward your next visit
  • Deduct it from the total cost of your service

Cancellation Policy

We completely understand that life happens and sometimes plans change. However, we do ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your appointment. Please note that the booking fee is non-refundable if this notice isn’t provided. If you need to reschedule, just give the salon a call—our team will help sort everything out and make sure your booking fee is handled appropriately. Don’t worry, all refunds are provided as required under Australian Consumer Law, so you can have peace of mind.
